Flexible to Fit to Your Needs

Our repertoire is designed to suit most every situation in which student theatre is produced. We understand the demands of educational theatre – wide ranging skill levels, the need for varied opportunity, often disproportionately female, etc. For this reason, we’ve designed four formats – One Acts, Mini Musicals, Singles (songs, scenes, and sketches), and Festival/Competition. Our licensing agreement allows you maximum flexibility.
So, what are your needs?
Here’s a few ideas as you begin to assess your parameters:
Assess Your Students
Age range
Cast size
Skill range
Assess Your Space
Theatre
Gym
Chapel
Cafeteria
Classroom
etc.
Assess Your Logistics

3 Flexibility Options:
There's lots of room for flexibility. Our rep is written in such a way that you can make it your own, and we give you choices inside each piece. For example…
OPTIONAL AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Audience participation greatly increases community building. You can opt for audience participation in COMPARING CHRISTMAS and/or PRESENTATION DAY: The Parables. In COMPARING CHRISTMAS, the audience can vote to determine which character(s) win the particular fun competitions you've chosen. (Options include tumbling, basketball, limbo, cooking, tap, lip-sync, and many more.) PRESENTATION DAY: The Parables has an optional audience guessing game.
CONTENT OMISSIONS
You can sometimes choose to omit particular songs/segments without disrupting the arc of the story. We ask that you not add to our work. (The lyrics, lines, story arc, etc.) If you're not sure, please reach out to us. Your success is our business!
OPTION TO FEATURE STUDENT ARTISTS
PRESENTATION DAY: The Parables allows you to feature the work of artistically gifted students by adding an art gallery in your lobby and/or highlighting their work (sculptures, paintings, drawings, etc.) in the course of the show. Or, if it's not a time to feature artists, you may opt for simple stick figure illustrations.
**A beautiful example of what artist features might look like: Each panel in the photo below represents a Bible story. (Panels and dancer(s) are from a Salvation Army student performance.)
Fun Fact! In the Salvation Army performance (seen below), our team had the opportunity to choreograph our song, Castles – based on the Parable of the House upon The Rock, exemplified in the art panel on far left.

The Takeaway?
Prayerfully assess who you have and the opportunity you've been given. How much time do you have to prepare and to present? Choose a piece that you can bite off and fully ponder, develop, and perform with confidence, so that everyone has a positive introduction to and experience with the form.
Choose wisely. Quality over quantity.
