Directors Become Heroes When Every Student Shines

"So many dads said things like, "I didn't know my son could sing like that!""

Miss Erica M.

Fine Arts Co-op, NJ

Male actor portrays the Burger Boss in Presentation Day: THE PARABLES – a One Act Musical based on The Parables of Jesus.

Most common fear?

PUBLIC SPEAKING.

There’s no better way to address this fear than to set your students up for success onstage. Our ONE ACT MUSICALS are designed with opportunities for even your most timid students to have a positive introduction to theatre. Directors become life-changers by finding opportunities for each student to grow and share their God-given gifts in the performing arts.

In our ONE ACT MUSICALS, you’ll find clever places for your less comfortable students to start shining. A few examples:

  1. CHRISTMAS IN ROOM 309

    1. Frankie (Male or Female) is a small, comedic, non-singing role. Frankie has easy opportunities to land audience laughs without much preparation or skill.

Actor and actress portray competing painters, in COMPARING CHRISTMAS, with brightly colored aprons, fake mustaches, and wooden color palettes.

  1. Presentation Day: WORD POWER

    1. Felisha, Casey, and Charlie are very specific minor characters with brief vocal cameos.

    2. “Flingin’ Those Words Around” (sample lyric video below) gives a wide range of "speak-sing" words, in addition to prop laughs for students who aren't ready to open their mouths.

  1. COMPARING CHRISTMAS

    1. The Tournament sequence allows Directors to choose from a wide pallet of short "Competitions" including Basketball, Jump Rope, Lasso, Limbo, Mime Comedy, Lip Synch, etc.

Student actors and actresses form two opposing positions to illustrate the competitive nature of the One Act Musical, COMPARING CHRISTMAS.

The student(s) that you choose to feature in any of the above examples may not have bought into the whole “theatre thing” just yet, but onstage success can be a palpable experience. These experiences can inspire students to keep coming back. Who knows? With a little practice in courage, students may surprise you, their family, their school – their whole community – with just how bright they can shine.

Directors become life-changers, and life-changers are heroes.
