BIBLICAL BASIS
WORD POWER is about the power of our words to have lasting impact on others - whether for good or harm.
“With our tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness." — James 3:9
The words we speak change lives. They can destroy a family or set us free from guilt and pain—WORDS have POWER. This musical is designed to build a strong foundation in the hearts of all involved and remind us that our words can make a difference.
WORD POWER HAS AN OPTIONAL GOSPEL PRESENTATION (see below)
OPTIONAL
GOSPEL PRESENTATION
MR/MRS. MARTIN: Class, these PRESENTATIONS have just been excellent. Thank you all for your wonderful work. We’ve all been reminded of some very important truths. We’ve all said things we wish we hadn’t. Who hasn’t?
STUDENT: I haven’t always done a good job with my words.
STUDENT: I’ve said things to people that were not nice.
STUDENT: Sometimes I whine too much.
MARTIN: You know what? I feel the same way myself. We are all human, with lots of fears and mistakes and selfishness. We are not holy and perfect like God, we are sinful. Our sinful nature separates us from God.
MARTIN can use board to draw island with God, island with humans, and Jesus/cross as bridge between. Maybe students assist with drawing/answering.
But we’re all God’s children and He loves us more than we can understand. And He wants us to be with Him forever.
So, God sent only his Son Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross and then came back to life again, it was like he built a bridge between us and God. We just have to respond to this wonderful gift of forgiveness and life!
Following Jesus is for our good – both now and forever. Since Jesus loves us so much, let’s be loving to others – especially with our words.
