SETTING AND STRUCTURE

CHRISTMAS IN ROOM 309 takes place in GRANDPA'S HOSPITAL ROOM, far downstage extremity, balanced on the other extremity by the HOSTESS COUNTER, which can be a lectern type piece.  The vast playing space in the Center is the SURGERY WAITING ROOM.

The GRANDPA'S ROOM, the HOSTESS COUNTER, and the WAITING ROOM space remain permanently onstage throughout the play as the action shifts from one area to the other. There are no scene changes.

The show provides lots of opportunity to feature students in solos, duets, small groups.  Roles and theme are pitched to upper Middle School, with opportunity to feature younger or less experienced students on specific songs.

CHRISTMAS IN ROOM 309 provides opportunity for acting, dance, tumbling, and special skills as well.
